STRES is a company specialized in creating computer programs for Structural Engineers who work in the field of reinforced concrete design. A STRES product distinguishes itself from the concurrence by some traits that the user can quickly notice at his first contact with the software. The adopted approach in conceiving STRES products is based on two principles that are rarely simultaneously present in the Commerce. The first one consists in providing a simple and clear interface where the number of parameters and entries is restricted to the minimum. Many engineers complain of feeling uncomfortable -if not lost- with complicated interfaces, and spend hours drawn in the Help document trying to take control over the software. STRES interfaces are thoroughly designed to offer the most efficient way to introduce the necessary data with zero learning curve. All parameters and settings are grouped and well structured inside one window. The second principle aims to provide the results of the calculations and the design notes with equal professionalism where clarity and conciseness are emphasized. Annotated graphics automatically display, and eventually appropriate dialog boxes show-up to warn the user about design problems.

DEEP BEAM – Design of reinforced concrete Deep Beams according to ACI318-14 metric

Design of reinforced concrete Deep Beams according to ACI318-14 metric. This program designs deep beams (span to depth ratio <4) based on the full implementation of the Strut-and-Tie method as described in Chapter 23 of ACI318-14. Yes it is real, the problematic design of deep beams is now possible thanks to the innovative use of the STM without any approximation. Design with few clicks deep beams of any height (it could be a bearing wall with a large opening at the ground floor) submitted to uniform, trapezoidal loads or a concentrated force. Extensive design note is generated where the verifications of struts, ties and nodes of any shape are performed! The programs respects the minimal allowable inclination angle of struts, and if not respected it automatically generates a new truss system with more members added in order to match Code requirements. It is not all! finally with one click a CAD drawings is created. This is what we mean with our new approach to structural programs.
